Artistic director of Les Farandoles de Chicoutimi Folkloric
group since 1974, Mrs. Blackburn also assumed the general direction in 1992.
A recognized artist in the folkloric dance field, Mrs. Blackburn is dynamic,
and demonstrates her visionary spirit by reaching unequaled goals in the field
of folkloric dance, both in Canada and abroad. She firmly believes in her
production, and continually stands out through her desire to create permanent
employment in a traditionally unstable field. Mrs. Blackburn dreamed of a
unique group formed of a competent team, dreamed of large scale productions,
of international touring, and mostly, to provide the area with a pool of diversified
artistic talents. It is as artistic director that she made her mark, and imposed
her management style. A hands-on woman, she has developed reputed dance group
with continual energy. Named Business Woman of the Year in 1999, Mrs. Blackburn
is recognized for her courage and her incredible talent. The passion motivating
her is an inspiration to the Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean business and artistic
community.
